Coming back to LJ...

Been a year... more than a year... well life's been busy...

I had to take the communities off my friends page... wah... T.T I just can't keep up anymore....

But I still need a place to rant and fangirl... facebook isn't exactly the place to do that... so I guess I'm back to LJ...

Need to update sidebar... that'll be fun... not today tho...

PS2 emulator test report for those who are interested

Okie.... Finished testing the Maihitoyo game on PS2 emulator PCSX2.

Firstly, emulators perform differenently on different computers, so here is my system configuration.

CPU: P4 2.66GHz
RAM: 768 MB (I haven't got around to replace the second piece of RAM yet XD)
Graphic card: Radeon9200SE 128RAM (yeah yeah i know it's weak...)

Now about Maihitoyo:

It will load on the emulator... but it didn't work properly enough.

The start up screen, the whole game window shakes a bit, like it's on a moving bus... = =

The background music wasn't working properly, so as instructed, I turned the BGM off. Voices and effect sounds are OK though.

I turned BGM off (and turned up voices volumes... just my personal habit as a seiyuu fan XD)

I made a patch file according to kmarcello 's instructions. The patch is to makes the emulator skip movie files.

But the Maihitoyo game starts with a short movie scene, where Akane saw someone dancing in the rain. (I played on my PS2 for 10 mins to see what it was like.) So when emulator is used, the game starts at where the scene finishes. (I tried to not use that patch and let CG load, it'd just load very slowly and eventually froze at a certain stage...)

Akane says: For a bit, I saw someone dancing in the rain...

Changed scene. The black edges are not displayed properly.

This is where my game got stuck... after this short effect scene, Sefuru is supposed to call out an monster... but it stayed there for 2-3 minutes and not going anywhere... till I gave up. >.< After this there's supposed to be a fight, so I wasn't able to test if the fighting system would work or not.

If that's not bad enough, on the second try I found out, when I press the tiangle button -- that's supposed to call out the menu including "Save & Load", the screen doesn't display. :P Saving using PCSX2's own saving function will simply freeze the program. =\

So with that said, I wouldn't recommend playing Maihitoyo on PCSX2 0.9.1 at this moment. If you dont have a PS2, then maybe wait for a further release of PCSX2, in the next release 0.9.2, it's said most of the BGM problem will be solved. ^^

Then again, if you have an uber computer with dual-core processor and good graphic card and everything... maybe it'd work a lot better for you...

Here's the config I used, some of the plugins I couldn't use, probably because of my crappy graphic card. This is one combination that worked for me. BIOS I used the Japan 1000 one, DVD-rom has to set with the correct volumn label.

PS: I tried Sengoku Musou which's supposed to be working (listed on the official website), but it freeze at the 3rd CG scene. XD;

I meant to write about Oct anime... but too bad I only managed to watch one so far. XD

That one I watched was: La Corda D'oro ～Primo Passo～, yes it's the Corda TV anime.

After watching the first episode, my feeling was a mixture of happiness and angst. XD

Happy for its quality which is above my expectation. (OK I admit Angelique TV really killed my expectation.)

Angst because now I know where KOEI is spending their money on... They obviously chose to give up on Ange TV and put more money in Corda. T_T My Shugosei-sama...

With that said, Corda is looking good. The bishes all look... pretty bishy... Story so far doesn't feel as stupid as Ange, and the heroine, appeared to be less annoying than Enju.

Tho Episode 1 might be too early to tell.

Angelique TV rant

I wanted to make the title as "Angelique TV is so silly", but maybe not since episode 1 wasn't that bad... XD

Just finished episode 2 and 3... and from time to time I wanted to jump out of the window...

KOEI could you please stop putting all those flashy starry stuff around shuugosei-sama during their entrance? XD;; This is not some 70's anime, and it's not supposed to be a parody like Ouran... XD;;;

Unless KOEI is targetting the 13 years old. Which is not a very good idea since they would have been only 2 when the first Angelique game came out. =.=

And stop making Luva-sama look that silly (episode 3)... =O= I'm feeling sorry for him now.

*cough cough* Anyway, overall I think the quality is lower than Haruka TV's standard. I'm scared to think about the up-coming La Corda D'oro anime now.

Sadly I didn't quite like the main character's voice, so sentxd I think I won't write about it on your seiyuu3 blog. XD; Maybe I'm too used to Shiratori Yuri's Ange.

But at least I liked the music, so the OST may be worth getting. >.>

On Saturday I received an email from paypal at mail.china.com account. In the email it said recently there have been a few failed login attempt from a foreign IP, so for security reason limits have been put onto my account. If I'd like to remove the limits, click on the below link and follow the instruction. Then under there was a link in the form of http://172.xx.xxx.xx/paypal/login?=submitblahbah The rest of the email looked very standard and legitimate.

I didn't think much of it then. I was just thinking: Wha? I have a paypal account? That's something I always wanted to make so I could pay SentXD on the FFXI discs... but for some reason I can't remember I never got it. I indeed had a paypal account a couple of years back, but back then I dont have the mail.china.com account yet.

So out of curiosity I clicked on the link, a paypal login screen showed up, I tried with an often used password, and the screen loaded with "incorrect password", I tried another one, same thing. That was when I felt a bit wrong because the other links on the page "Sign up" etc are actually fake links. Immediately I realized this is a hoax website.

Later I tried the real paypal.com, and soon remembered why I didn't get a paypal account: The sign-up page was as slow as hell it never opened up for me so I never could register...

Lucky me.

Now I should have realized the link was fishy... guess I haven't been attacked with anything for a long while and become off guard... ~.~;;

I didn't know. o.o;; (Well I'm out-dated for anime released in english. XD)

As I absolutely love this series now, I would recommend everyone not to miss it if you can grab it. (Especially for those Sengoku fans. :P)

If anyone who can read chinese is interested in reading the novel (which i think is even better than anime... but anime is very well made already.), I have 1/3 of the translation in Chinese. Ricvirzar, it is really a very good history novel, trust me. :P

My PC's sound scheme is now using Hayami Sho's voice, I like the Naoe voice says "Otsukaresama deshita. Oyasumi nasai." when PC's shutting down. XD

I went to see it on Friday evening. :3

- Harry's hair doesn't look as bad as on the posters... I thought I hated the hair when I saw the trailors, but actually it wasn't too bad at all :D. (Harry is quite cute. X3)

- For anyone looking forward to the Quidditch world cup, you can stop dreaming now. XD

- For anyone looking forward to see House elves (if any XD), they can stop dreaming too.

- I didn't find Mad-eye very scary... and i wish we had the old Dumbledore... -_-

- For anyone who hasn't read the book, they're gonna miss a lot of things if they just watch the movie...

- Cho Chang actually didn't do much, I think that's a good thing. When she appeared, everyone sitting around me were saying "Why wouldn't they find someone prettier?"

With all the above said, I think it was a good movie, for it was a 2 hrs 30 (or was 40) minutes movie and I didn't feel it was that long at all, there was still lots more to be told and I feel like wanting to see more. ; ; The chinese dub was awful, they must have done it in a rush or something. I'll have to watch it again in english when I can get my hands on the english version. :3

sentxd and I are going for Japanese Language proficienty Level 2 test this year. 7 months to go, and I don't think it's mission impossible. :3 According to sentxd's syllabus and calculation, if we cover one grammar per day, we'll be able to cover all grammar needed before the test. Vocab, reading and listening all shouldn't be much of a problem if we study a bit, judging from all the stuff we play, watch, read and listen to. XD

You are all welcomed to join the community.
If you haven't done the test and think it's too late to study now, maybe you could study with us, we'll keep a solid progress to make sure 100% of grammar and as much vocab as possible are covered. I'll also be posting very good resources I found off the Chinese websites. Chinese are experts in passing exams, so never under estimate those things. X3

If you just don't have enough interest, maybe reading some posts will make you more motivated...

If your JP level is not good enough for Lvl 2, you could always read it to enrich your capability (for better manga reading? XD)

Saw it a while ago but haven't got time to rant. XD
For Tange fans, unfortunately they didn't keep the CCS seiyuu. As for who this 牧野由依 is, I have no idea. Shaorang's new voice is Irino Miyu, the boy who we known as Haku from Sen to Chihiro and Daisuke from DN Angel. Fai (Fay?) or however that's spelled gets Namikawa Daisuke, also a new face. I only know him from Prince of Tennis and Yuy the new Guardian of Wind from Angelique, saw him from the Neo Romance Festa 2004 Summer event and liked him. :D Shall be looking forward to watch this new anime now. ^_^ It's coming out in 2 month~~~

another anime to watch...

Meine Liebe anime is out... o.o;; Another anime added to "to-watch" list.

Considering how much I hate the game (for it's difficulty and lack of story... konami sucks at making me happy. >.>) and the stupidity of its manga, the anime is actually not too bad. (But ok, I did have my expectations low.)

1. There is no main female, maybe will never be one. :D (no, not sure on that one)
2. It features on interactions/conflicts between the 5 main bish...cast, which the game never went very far in.
3. Seiyuu performances are wonderful. I feel like it's a show where they can show off their voices without worrying about being off character. XD

This year must be the year of Sakurai... this is the third anime series in which he's taking leading cast. o_o (The other two being "Kyou Kara Ma-oh" and "Tactics", all three are girl targeted series I'd say), I can see him getting a lot of fans now...

But since Meine Liebe had no manga to start with, I'm a little worried about the story getting stupid because of the lack of plot... hmm Episode 1 was fine so let's see how it goes. :3

leenabeans , I disagree with Xheif on that one. Though I can't say it's a wonderful brilliant movie, I definitely don't hate it either. I mean St Seiya is all about fighting, and compare with the other 4 movies back from the 1990's, this one is a lot better already.

Pros:
1. It's got a lot more contents other than fighting.
2. The artwork, especially the background, creates a kinda different feeling and I like it.
3. For once, Seiya is not that dis-likeable. lol. This movie is quite Seiya-centric and for once I don't hate him so much. (I mean, I still hate him, but not so much in this movie. XD)
4. I never really cried watching St Seiya, but in the movie, the Seiya's "if it is your wish to kill me, it's fine with me" bit with Athena actually touched me a little and almost put tears in my eyes. =_=; (Maybe it's me getting more sentimental as growing older...)
5. Midorikawa Hikaru did a good job! =D

Cons:
1. Pattern 1; Fighting. >.> Saints never dies, their opponents die from one hit after beating up the saints. Pattern 2: Athena gets in trouble again. Pattern 3: Everyone makes way for Seiya's sake. Pattern 4: Bad guys only turn good when they die.
2. I'm not buying Athena's "oh i don't want to involve my saints in anymore fightings, but I guess I'll just to kill myself slowly" theory, =_=, I think that's totally contradicting and stupid.
3. Seiya still says too much rubbishes. Seiya: You're too slow! *gets hit* Argghhhhhh~~~ -_-;;
4. Too little Shun. But then again maybe it's a good thing, coz I don't trust the script writer at all. =_=;;
5. I feel very sorry again for Shiryu and Hyoga fans. Scene 1: Sei, Shir & Hyo standing up from ground, preparing to charge against the enemy. Second Scene: Shir & Hyo dead on the ground, Seiya running away on the stairs "Sorry Shiryu, Hyoga!" Hum... huh?! I thought you three were charging together...
6. Takahashi Hiroshi used his deep voice which I can't even tell apart from Morikawa Hideyuki. >.> There goes my expectations of the "beautifulness" of his voice. He *is* one of my new favourites after PoT. =_=;

But after watching this... I still have hope for the next one...

Haruka TV episode 1 is out! (OK i'm not sure about english subs XD)
Watched it last night and the quality is quite OK. The story follows manga story, didn't give me any surprise prolly coz I'm way too familiar with the storyline. The production group is prolly the crew who are doing Angelique 10 yrs anniversary OVA, who does a much better job than the Haruka OVAs. The OP is sung by the three seiyuu who sing the best out of 8, which are, Tenma's Seki Tomokazu, Shimon's Miyata Kouki and Inori's Takahashi Naozumi, while the ED is sung by Ran's Kuwashima Houko and Sefuru's Asakawa Yuu. X3 I hope the quality stays up like this for the rest of the series.

Saint Seiya Tenkai Hen fansub is out... I haven't watched that, because (Sengoku musou killed my time) I like to leave the best for the last. XD;

A new anime called "tactics" - it's got Miyata Kouki as main cast and Sakurai *whinks at zero_sum * as the second main one. The main female is Mizuki Nana, another char I thought was a girl happened to be voiced by Hoshi Souichiro. O.O; I think I'll be watching that. :D
